Japanese Cosplay Costumes

Which character should you cosplay? At first, you should try to cosplay characters that you know or love. Think of characters from your favorite animation, video game, manga or movie. If you liked any of the character's costume then that's what you should go for.

Since you are the one that's going to put a lot of time and effort into making the costume, you should choose a character that you really like. If you're still having a hard time choosing which character to cosplay, try asking your close friends. Sometimes, they'll know you, your tastes and personality better than yourself. Just make sure you choose someone who also know the anime, video game or manga character that you're thinking of cosplaying.

Try not to choose your character based on features similar to yourself. Even if you have the same hair, eye color or height, looking like a certain character is only part of cosplaying. A lot of people cosplay characters which has no similarities whatever to themselves. You should instead think about the difficulty of creating the costume and how much time, money and hard work you're willing to invest in it. Now, onto making the actual cosplay costumes.

You can find a lot of pre-existing cosplay costumes for sale online. You can either buy a whole set for a character or buy each accessories separately. Check out this store, Japanese Cosplay Costumes for Sale, if you're looking to buy pre-made costumes.

You can also use old clothes and put them together to make a costume. You will most often find cheap clothes at thrift stores which you can combine together to make an outfit. Using this method, however, means that you are limited to characters that are simple or wear "normal" clothes that you only have to modify a bit.

If you want a more intricate cosplay costume, you should probably buy pre-made costumes as stated above or pay someone to do make you one. You can give them your information and they'll create one based on what you give them. You probably have to provide them with a reference picture and additional details such as what materials you would like to use. Remember though, these costumes will cost a lot more than what you can find at normal stores. You are paying for the materials as well as the quality. As the old saying goes, you get what you paid for.

If you can sew, you can try to create the cosplay costume yourself. You would probably need to do a lot of searching to find patterns that sort of look like the outfit you want and still do some alternations. It is recommended that you try to do a test on cheaper materials first before you put the time and hard work into making the costume out of much more expensive materials.
